With the rise of the many cases of death due to the increased involvement of the drug
Fentanyl I decided to focus on this dangerous drug for this post.
According to the NCDAS over 96,700 die due to overdoses per year.
72% of those deaths are involved with the drug opioids (which fentanyl has also been a primary factor in).
Fentanyl is a very dangerous drug that can become an addictive supplement for many. According to the DEA website, it is a "synthetic opioid used to treat patients with severe pain". However, as many of us know these drugs are often mimicked, taken out the hospitals and sold through the illegal drug market. Leading multiple drug sellers to have this product and mix it with illicit drugs such as:
-Heroin
-Methamphetamine
-Cocaine
-Powders
-Nasal sprays
-Pills
When they are mixed into these drugs it is very difficult to know if the product one may buy or uses contains this horrible drug. Multiple individuals may buy their normal drugs and not know if it contains fentanyl or even worse are unaware of the lethal dose (the percent of product before it can cause one to die). This can lead to the individual dying due to a overdose.
It is very important to keep yourself safe. Whether you do drugs or not it is life saver to to be aware of such things, knowing such can save yourself or others from one of the unfortunate common deaths of drug overdoses. You can never know what the drugs you consume have in them, so it is important to take these precautions for yourself. Life is not granted, and your presence makes an impact on this world and the people around you, put yourself first and look and care after yourself!
If you or anyone you know is struggling with overcoming drugs, please call the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
